Arthritis and sports-related injuries can prevent you from doing the activities you love. Dr. Hanzlik’s goal with treatment is to relieve chronic pain and help patients get back to their active lifestyles. He uses minimally invasive and cutting-edge treatments whenever possible to improve recovery times and help patients return to their normal activities as quickly and safely as possible. He also performs procedures in an outpatient surgical center whenever possible, so that patients can recover in the comfort of their own homes.

Hip Arthroscopy

Hip arthroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that can be used to treat several conditions and injuries affecting the hip, including labral tears, gluteus medius tears, hip bursitis, and cartilage defects. In some cases, hip arthroscopy may help patients avoid or delay the need for more invasive procedures, like joint replacement. Hip arthroscopy is typically done as an outpatient procedure, so patients are able to return home the same day.

Hip Replacement

Hip arthritis symptoms can often be managed by nonsurgical treatments like anti-inflammatory medication, physical therapy, and activity modification. However, if more conservative treatments no longer provide sufficient relief from arthritis, hip replacement surgery may be an option. During a hip replacement procedure, Dr. Hanzlik removes the damaged portions of the hip joint and replaces them with implants designed to mimic normal hip function and relieve hip pain. This procedure can often be done in an outpatient surgery center, so patients can return home the same day.

Rotator Cuff Repair

Rotator cuff tears are common shoulder injuries among athletes and non-athletes alike. If the rotator cuff is torn, surgery is typically recommended because the torn tendon will not grow back or heal on its own. Dr. Hanzlik has specialized training in arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, including rotator cuff repair using tendon grafts. Minimally invasive techniques like arthroscopic surgery can improve recovery times for patients. This procedure is typically done on an outpatient basis.

Stem Cell Injections

Stem cell injections, harvested from the patient’s own bone marrow or fat cells, may be recommended to treat several different orthopedic conditions and injuries, including arthritis, tendonitis, and ligament injuries. Dr. Hanzlik often uses stem cell injections alongside other treatments, including surgery, to help promote quicker healing. Dr. Hanzlik is one of the few board certified surgeons in Tualatin and Oregon City offering stem cell injections.
